Let me kick-start the first and only post for 2016, which was long overdue as the last post I made was August, last year. As mentioned earlier, I was relocated to Singapore due to work, and been very busy with many things at hand. Now that 2016 is coming to an end, and I think it is time, to have a summary of everything.
The high-end pro series of Nikon DSLR has been enjoying WiFi since many years ago, and finally we get to use that in more affordable, mass-market models.
Newer models such as D750, D7200, D5500 & D5300 has the feature built-in & other models including D3200, D3300, D5200, D7100, D600, D610 & Df uses an optional dongle (Wu-1a & Wu-1b).
Unlike the pro-series, the WiFi feature in these camera are officially designed to work with smart devices only. The Nikon apps will only work with Android or iOS devices, does that means you can’t use it with laptop and etc?
Finally I have a short break and went for a holiday with my lovely wife last May. First I wanted to travel-light but I end up traveled with a Nikon D610, an all rounder travel-zoom AF-S 28-300 VR, an ultra wide AF-S 14-24 F2.8 and a Fisheye AF-D 16 F2.8. Continue reading “Hi-Bali; Bali-Hai!”
The Nikon D4s is now shipping to early adopters and I had an opportunity to play with the new flagship camera!
Below are the top 3 new/improved features that I like!
#1 – ISO
The native ISO is now starting from ISO 100 to ISO 25600, and produce superb quality with close to none visible-noise issues. The D4s also expand to a record breaking high ISO 409600 allowing one to shoot in virtually any condition with ease!
#2 – Group AF
This new group AF make use of five AF points to improve stability especially while tracking subject. Nikon also tweaked the AF system to improve the lock-on accuracy and usability.
#3 – Monitor color balance
You can now manually tweak the LCD to color match the other screens you’ll be using. The adjustment is pretty much strait to the point, similar to WB fine tune option. Bear in mind that this option only adjust what you’ll see on screen, but has no-effect to what ever you shot.
First of all, it has been a really long while since I last blogged about anything. I’ve decided to share this, as today is a special day that I would like to share with all of you, the following shot was featured in the ‘Bulletin Mutiara’ Penang, many-many thanks to the editorial for choosing my photo especially Chan Lilian!
A little story behind this; I shot this night Georgetown scene with the awesome Nikon D800 & a 70-200 tele lens from the top of Penang hill. Originally I am up there at Penang Hill to do some time lapse sample, and end up I captured this interesting shots.
Another good news to share is, the same shot in my facebook album now has over 400 likes, and 200 shares on Facebook by known sources. Thanks you to everyone who has supported me, and I am really glad that you all liked it.
The bulletin will be circulating around certain area in Penang, and if you are interested to read a copy, you can always download the digital version at this link.
Last but not least, I am now part of Nikon Malaysia officially and will be taking care of Nikon Club events, to help the northern region NPS members and many more interesting tasks. It is a giant step for me for now, and I will continue to share more from time to time.
Finally, it’s time to say ‘Goodbye’ to 2011, and stepping into a brand new year – 2012! Happy New Year everyone!
2011 has been a really important year for me, as there were a lot of life-changing events come and go; Thanks god they are mostly in the good side!
As starter, I am glad that it has been a great year for my career as a wedding cinematographer at Motion In Style, it was also my first trip travelling to Perth, Australia to cover a wedding. It was a totally difference experience shooting there and it certainly has taught me something new throughout the assignment.
As part of the work requirements, I also acquired a new unit of Nikon D7000, a fantastic camera that are now one of my main choice of camera! I love this camera’s exposure accuracy, color and sharpness! Along with this camera, I also purchased a new carbon fiber tripod and a new tracking system for dolly scenes.
At the same time this year, I was also engaged as a state liaison by Nikon Club Malaysia, in the club, I hope to learn new skills, meet new friends and to share my passion of photography!
btw, I am ‘married‘ finally, in front of relatives and friends actually. Me and Angelina actually got engaged last year on Nov 2010. I hope to stay healthy so I can take care of my lovely wife and our future kids.
and btw… stepping into 2012 also mark the end of my 20s, and I am now 30 and I should be ‘wiser’ now and makes better decision, I hope.
and finally, my long list of resolutions & wish-list for 2012 begins with…
- Stay healthy by living a healthier lifestyle… pretty difficult for me without all the tasty food, midnight food-crave and etc
- Go honey-moon with my wife, some-where nice and cozy.
- Get myself a HD projector for those HD movie-lah… size really does matters to me.
- Fewer works, more profit.
- Try for baby… *wink* at my wife.
